Frances Stark was born in Huntington Beach, California, in 1967 and lives and works in Los Angeles. Often autobiographical and self-referential, Stark’s practice frequently combines text and image and includes drawing, collage, photography, video, and performance. Stark participated in the 2013 Carnegie International, Pittsburgh, and recent solo exhibitions were presented at the Aspen Art Museum (2013) and Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver (2012–13).
