Join André Aciman and Aleksandar Hemon, two of contemporary literature’s masters, as they discuss displacement, exile, memory, and other aspects of their distinctive, evocative writing. Born in Sarajevo, Hemonis the author ofThe Lazarus Project, which was a finalist for the 2008 National Book Award and the National Book Critics Circle Award, and three books of short stories:The Question of Bruno; Nowhere Man, also a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award; and Love and Obstacles. He was the recipient of a 2003 Guggenheim Fellowship and a 2004 MacArthur Foundation Fellowship. This spring he will publish The Book of My Lives, his first nonfiction book. Aciman is a distinguished professor of comparative literature at the Graduate Center and founder of the CUNY Writers’ Institute. Celebrated as one of the most poignant prose stylists of his generation, he is the author of the novels Eight White Nights and Call Me by Your Name, the memoir Out of Egypt, and essay collections Alibis: Essays on Elsewhere and False Papers: Essays on Exile and Memory. His novel Harvard Square will be released this spring.
