Three of the funniest writers we know and one of the funniest moderators will explore the idea of comedy in fiction. Fiona Maazel (Woke Up Lonely), Sam Lipsyte (The Fun Parts) and Jim Shepard (You Think That's Bad) will be joined by moderator Jason Diamond. The reception for this event will begin at 7:30, followed by the event.
Fiona Maazel, author of Last Last Chance, is winner of the Bard Prize for Fiction. Her work has appeared in BOMB, Bookforum, N+1, the New York Times Book Review, Tin House, and many other publications. She teaches at Brooklyn College, New York University, Princeton, and Columbia, and was appointed the Picador Guest Professor at the University of Leipzig, Germany. Maazel lives in Brooklyn, NY.
Jim Shepard is the author of six novels, including most recently Project X, and four story collections, including most recently Like You’d Understand, Anyway, which was nominated for the National Book Award and won the Story Prize, and You Think That’s Bad. His stories have been included in the Best American, PEN/O.Henry, and Pushcart prize anthologies. He teaches at Williams College.
Jason Diamond is the founder of Vol. 1 Brooklyn, the Deputy Editor of Flavorpill, and writes criticism and essays for the Paris Review, the New York Observer, Tablet, and many other outlets.
